[ daily deals ] :: christmas for the dogs

Do you get presents for your pets? I do! I normally stock up on Christmas-themed items the day after Christmas at Petsmart when they are 50% off.  However, The Hubs and I like to give the dogs something to "open" on Christmas morning.

This year, I went the online route and ordered presents from Dog.com. I've ordered from Horse.com before and was pleased with my purchase, so I thought I would give it a try. One thing I like about both of these sites is that there are discounts when you buy in bulk.

I found some great deals on some of the Demon Dogs' favorite chews - Nylabone Healthy Edibles, just $3.95 each when you buy 2. I didn't see their favorite flavor online (strawberry-banana), so chicken will have to do!

The Hubs and I are on a mission to find some mentally-stimulating toys for the pups. They have absolutely no interest in fluffy toys, and Norman tries to swallow rawhide chews like an anaconda. I thought we've give these a try - only $3.19 each when you buy 2!

This might be hit-or-miss, but we ordered some dog puzzles for them, too. Emma is super-genius-level-smart so she might figure these out immediately. Norman isn't as bright as her, but he will watch her and learn how to do it! We make fun of him for being a little daft, but in reality he is no dumbie. Emma will make any dog (or human) look stupid. These toys were just $10.71 each, and I think they'll be perfect for cold, rainy days when they dogs get bored. I chose this one because they have to turn the little knobs to open the flap. Hopefully it will stump them for a while.

I *almost* got them an agility set (Emma likes to jump) but it was too pricey. I wish my dogs were simple and liked cheap stuffed toys, but they have no interest in them! Not even squeaky toys. Or tennis balls. It has to taste or smell good for them to want to play...typical hound dogs. I wish there were more dog toys that were for scent-stimulated dogs, and not just for retrievers and sight-stimulated dogs.

Are you getting your pups any presents for the holidays?
