Ok y'all - we cleaned out the freezer this week (yay freezer food!) and I had a horse show this weekend, so the grocery list got a little wonky. I divided it into two parts - junk I got with coupons, and fresh(er) foods that I will pack for my weekend away and for meals later in the week.
By packing my breakfasts, lunches, and snacks for my competition I saved a bunch of money and had healthier options to stay energized. At the horse show venue, a grilled cheese sandwich "combo" is $8 or something ridiculous like that. During my trip to the grocery store, I stocked up on veggies for our next few dinners. (The Coke isn't included in the total - it made a nice backdrop.) Grocery: $56.83. Retail: $78.00
Here is my purchases that I had coupons for - The Hubs and I got 12 Swanson chicken broths ($0.85 each), 6 ketchups ($0.75 each), 4 bottles of salad dressing ($0.87 or $1.10 each), 2 cans of tomatoes ($0.49 each), 2 cans of pineapple ($0.40 each), 12 boxes of wild rice ($0.50 each), Pam cooking spray ($1.04), 4 12 packs of Coke ($2.14 each), and 4 pounds of sugar ($1.19). Grocery: $37.44 Retail: $97.44.
I managed to get $5.50 back by using the Ibotta app and Checkout 51 app. Once you download the apps to your phone, you scan your grocery receipt and get cash back for making qualifying purchases. I saved extra money on milk, a Luvo microwave meal, and POM juices. Every once in a while there will be a cash back deal for fresh produce!
Here's the damage...
Grocery: $94.37 (over $175 retail)
...but we have enough ketchup to last until the apocalypse.
